recreation.gov data migration and analysis

Project Summary:

recreation.gov is the website for reserving and purchasing recreational permits for most US federal agencies. These include the National Parks Service, Bureau of Land Management and US Forest Service.

They provide open data via the ridb.recreation.gov/ site. This includes attributes for all reservation types and historical reservation data.

Implementation Plan:

• Automate retrieval of data and loading into MySql database
• Basic analysis of data using SQL
• Extraction of subsets of data using Knime
• Presentation of analysis in charts and dashboards in Tableau and Looker Studio
